Happy Monday!
We’ve all heard the famous line by Jenna Lyons, “as far as I’m concerned, leopard is a neutral.” No truer words have been spoken in the fashion world. However, by uttering these game changing words in the fashion industry, Lyons also introduced a whole new way of thinking of a neutral color palette. That in fact, neutrals, are not limited to solid colors at all.
In addition to leopard being a huge neutral in my book, plaid is quickly creeping up to be one of my biggest contenders for a new neutral, especially for fall.
There’s nothing like the plaid shirt. It’s versatile, comfortable and effortless. It’s one of those patterns, like leopard print, where you don’t have to do a lot with the rest of your look because it’s statement enough. We’ve all seen the basic plaid button down. Easy. Simple. Something every gal needs and probably has in her closet. What I loved about this Anthropologie piece was that it’s not your typical plaid shirt. It’s flowy, feminine and most of all flattering. I threw mine on with some winter white skinnies and my favorite pair of booties for a warm late fall day. As the holiday seasons quickly approach (um, 7 more Wednesdays till Christmas Eve y’all!), I’ll be pairing it with some wine colored cords, OTK boots and chunky gold jewels for casual Thanksgiving look or a Christmas soiree.
Speaking of the holidays, if you’re desperately thinking what to get your girlfriends, Aunt Sue or boyfriend check out my Shop Page above! From now till Christmas, I’ll be updating with perfect stocking stuffers and different goodies.
Thanks so much for reading! xo
