I’ve never really been sure of kimonos. Part of me always thought they were reserved for festivals or were festivals or made me feel very memoirs of a geisha-ish. So when I found this gem from Liberty Garden, I forgot all of my hesitations about them. The classic and neutral white and cream detailing make it perfect to throw on for your everyday look with some jeans and booties or with a maxi dress and some wedges.

A few tips for sporting kimonos:

1. Treat it like a cardigan. You don’t need your whole look to be boho-esque to wear one! Throw one over a solid tee, shorts and wedges, and it’s your new summer appropriate cardigan! Since you know, after the temps hit 70 degrees stores are so cold that you get goosebumps as soon as you walk in.

2. Pair it with solids. Kimonos usually have a lot going on – whether it be fringe, florals, pompoms or all three; they are definitely the statement piece in your outfit. Pairing them with solid colors makes them stand out and doesn’t make you look like you were around when a crayola factory exploded.

 3. Find your fit. From floor length to hi-low, kimonos come in a variety of styles. For me, I love the shorter, cocoon styled ones since I’m a kimono starter, but love how the floor length ones look with a tank and shorts! But if you’re lanky like me, floor length generally means calf length, so I have to shy away for those for now until I find the perfect one.
